The Birth of Travelluxe Inc. & Leaving Corporate:
We co-founded Travelluxe Inc., a luxury vacation rental management company, at the end of 2019. We had turned our own investments into top performing vacation rentals, and knew we could help our clients make passive income with a hands-off management model. In September 2021 our hard work started to pay off: just 3.5 years after Spencer’s first investment, and 2 years after the launch of Travelluxe Inc., Ashley left her corporate job to be a full time investor and entrepreneur. By this time we had started purchasing more vacation rentals with joint venture partners, and had grown Travelluxe Inc. to 22 clients in Ontario, plus expanded into British Columbia.
Spencer left his corporate job in May of 2022. We went from travelling 3-4 weeks per year, to being away for 18 weeks in 2022; we had achieved true location freedom.
From the Beginning:
We met and started dating in 2015 when we were both in corporate roles. We discovered that we have a love of adventure; we’re inherently curious and love travel as a way to learn about new places, culture and people. By the end of 2016 we had decided that 3-4 weeks of vacation a year wasn’t enough time for us to do the things that we loved. Neither of us were fulfilled in the corporate roles we had; we knew we were meant for the Freedom Lifestyle where we could make decisions on how (and where) we lived/worked. We also picked up a new hobby: collecting points&miles so we can fly in style in Business/ First Class cabins for a fraction of the cost, and stay in the world’s most aspirational hotels.
Spencer&Ashley do Real Estate: We took a year to educate ourselves, and learn from others in the real estate world; then in early 2018, Spencer took the first leap into real estate by completing his first BRRRR to vacation rental. This went so well that by the end of 2020, we had added 16 more doors to our portfolio (4 vacation rentals & 2 apartment buildings), all while still working our 9-5’s.
Today:
Fast forward to 2023, and we manage over 60 high-performing vacation rentals, each one meticulously designed to deliver exceptional experiences. We are growing in 5 different territories in Canada, and have significantly improved our business through systems, tech stacks, and good old trial and error. You can find us either at home in Niagara, Canada with our two pups, Tucker & Stella, or off on an adventure somewhere around the world (and definitely skipping most of our Canadian winters!).
Here’s the best part: we've completely fallen in love with sharing our knowledge and helping others make passive income through real estate.
